freestanding Sculptures

Freestanding sculptures are those which stand on their own. Either they stand on the floor or hang from the wall. They are usually but not always large scale. Some freestanding pieces may be used in general furniture settings (art furniture), such as with the cocktail table spool series. Both Hooked and Road Kill (currently in progress) have mosaic tile tops to accommodate cocktails, of course. The newest division of Deborah's work is called sculptural painting and fits in this category since they are wall hanging sculptures done with mixed media materials in a framed painting format. The wonderful thing about the pieces is that the frames never "frame" the piece but simply act as another of the mediums within the sculpture.
